What's Oppo doing tonight?

We’ve got an unseasonably warm evening here in Chicagoland. It’s 52 degrees outside. I love the sweet relief of these occasional nights. They make the long cold winter not so bad. I cracked a nice root beer, put some tunes on, and am going to enjoy an hour or two tinkering in Shop-Teacher’s home for wayward tiny motors. I just wish the garage floor wasn’t so wet. Oh well! I’m going to enjoy this!

What’s shakin’ Oppo?

Drained the coolant out of the RX7 and took the radiator hoses and one of the heater return lines off, will put new ones on tomorrow I suppose, which aren’t sketchy and slightly leaky.

It’s 2:14am and I’m doing absolute bugger all. I’ve been awake all day and I’m not tired. Not much on TV, sat in front of the computer ust flicking through random pages here and there.

I’m totally squandering all this nice weather and letting myself get way too carried away looking at chassis codes .

... again . Why do I do this to myself?

I think the answer to that is yes. I’ve been wildly disappointed in the camera. Enough so that I may get rid of it soon.

It’s been damn cold up here in Nova Scotia...was -15C (5F) the other day without the windchill....with the windchill that day, it was -25C (-13F)! (Which is not cold for a lot of Western Canada, but pretty cold for here!)

It’s supposed to be 13C (55F) on Saturday though from a rainstorm that is going to be moving through, so that will be a welcome change!

My evening has consisted of lesson planning for class tomorrow and doing some computer work for a very annoying, full-of-himself old guy photographer (who is admittedly really skilled, but not very modest...) who lives in town that calls me 9 million times if I don’t answer right away despite knowing I am at work and that computer tutoring/repair is my SIDE job...

I ate dinner and then got on oppo. That lead to reading the post about Janet (airline), which lead to looking at aecom job openings worldwide, which lead to considering if a 32 year-old American could enter Britain’s apprentice system for transportation system planner (if so, what city in England would one choose since there multiple opening. Decided a preliminary decision could be made from references to the various cities from Top Gear over the years), which circled back to a rabbit hole of reading about Area 51/Groom Lake, which has concluded to flipping on the fireplace and hopefully finding something relaxing to watch on TV for a little bit that doesn’t prompt another rabbit hole of interesting reading while hanging out on the couch with the doggos.

Thanks. I’m thinking that this year I want to get it insulated so it is a bit more tolerable in the winter. 2x4 studs, though, so not a lot of room. I’m thinking I’ll end up doing the pink fiberglass (or Roxul) stuff, and do it myself, but instead of drywall, use oriented strand board. I’m going to double check with the local fire code before I do that, though.

Mine is also detached, but when it eventually comes time to sell the place, it’ll be easier if everything is to code. I’m not sure there are any regulations, but I figure it’s definitely smarter to look into it before doing it.
